Health Administration-Executive Program

The University of Cincinnati’s innovative online Master of Health Administration (MHA) Degree Program is designed to provide working professionals with a high-quality experiential and practice-oriented curriculum in healthcare management. Admission Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution
  • Official transcripts of all undergraduate and graduate work
  • Undergraduate degree with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 (4.0 scale)
  • Two letters of recommendation addressing academic readiness, work ethic, and communication skills
  • Resume/CV highlighting personal, professional, and educational background, with a focus on healthcare experience
  • Personal statement or brief essay (no more than three pages double-spaced) answering prompts about academic goals, professional goals, balancing work and the online program, and motivation for earning the MHA
  • At least two years of work experience in a healthcare setting is preferred
  • Completion of the University of Cincinnati online graduate application
  • International applicants must have a minimum TOEFL score and obtain a complete evaluation of foreign transcripts and degrees
  • GRE is not required, but scores can be submitted if taken

The University of Cincinnati and all regional campuses are accredited by the Higher Learning Commission. The Master of Health Administration (MHA) program is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education (CAHME).

According to a 2022 Bureau of Labor Statistics report, health administrators’ median salary is $104,830, with a job outlook expected to rise by 28% over the next decade. Health administrators work in healthcare facilities, including hospitals, medical practices, nursing homes, and hospital systems, and are responsible for preparing and monitoring budgets, operating revenue, supervising staff, and ensuring quality improvement of the health system. Careers for health administrators include CEOs and CFOs of hospital systems, clinical managers, health information managers, and nursing home administrators. The majority of UC MHA program graduates work in higher management positions across the United States.
