Program Overview
WSU Army ROTC
The Washington State University Army ROTC program, also known as the Cougar Battalion, is a Senior Reserve Officers' Training Corps (ROTC) program that has been commissioning highly qualified students as Army Lieutenants for over 100 years.
Program Overview
The program allows students to try it for the first two years without any commitment. Once committed and 'contracted', cadets receive tremendous benefits. Some choose the path towards active duty, while others choose to serve in the National Guard or Army Reserves. The Army offers a wide array of benefits for everyone.
Message from Lieutenant Colonel Norland
As the senior leader of WSU's Army ROTC program, Lieutenant Colonel Norland welcomes students to the Cougar Battalion. He emphasizes that the path towards becoming a leader in the world's finest fighting force is not to be taken lightly, but it is achievable. He notes that leadership and the path towards preparing to commission is not a solo event, but rather a marathon, and leadership is a contact sport.
Key Principles for Success
Lieutenant Colonel Norland highlights three key principles for success: effort, attitude, and consistency. He assures students that if they keep these principles in mind, the team of Active Duty, Reserve, and National Guard Cadre will help them with the rest of the details, and their hard work will pay off.
