Program Overview

The Basic Mountains Operations Course (BMOC) is a comprehensive program that covers the fundamentals of travel, survival, wilderness first aid and rescue, wilderness ethics, and navigation, as well as tactics. This 60+ hour course is taught in an outdoor setting, combining classroom instruction with extended outdoor practice.

• The course is limited to 24 students, with slots preassigned to participating agencies.
• To pass the course, students are expected to come prepared, complete all exercises, and pass a written test.
