Program Overview

Leadership Excellence Certificate

The Leadership Excellence Certificate is a mandatory program for junior and tenure-track professors at RWTH Aachen University. The program is designed to provide newly appointed professors with the necessary leadership skills and knowledge to excel in their roles.

Program Structure

The program offers two pathways for completion:

1. Workshop Pathway: Participants can choose to complete a series of workshops offered by the Postdoc Academy and/or the Program for Professors of the Center for Professional Leadership (CPL). The required building blocks include:

• Welcome Workshop for Newly Appointed Professors
• Workshop Conversation Management I (and/or Workshop Conversation Management II)
• "Prof.essional Teaching" certificate
• Freely selectable offerings from the portfolios of the CPL and the Center for Learning and Teaching Services (CLS) in the scope of six seminar days or 64 teaching units

2. Certificate Course Pathway: Junior professors can complete the Certificate Course for Executives in Science, Administration, and Technology. The course consists of six two-day course units with a fixed group of participants, spread out over a period of approximately 15 months.

Program Requirements

To complete the program, participants must submit their certificates of participation as PDF documents to the program coordinator. The program is designed to provide participants with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in their roles as academic leaders.
