Program Overview
Introduction to the M.Sc. Resilient Civil Engineering Program
The RWTH International Academy is pleased to announce the introduction of a new master's program, M.Sc. Resilient Civil Engineering (M.Sc. RCE), which will welcome its first students in the winter semester of 2024/25. This innovative program focuses on the concept of resilience and sustainability in infrastructure and complex building systems, integrating these principles into design, construction, and planning.
Program Structure and Content
The M.Sc. RCE program is academically led by the Faculty of Civil Engineering, Chair of Structural Analysis and Dynamics, with architectural modules conducted by the Faculty of Architecture, Department of Building Planning and Realization. The program benefits from a close cooperation with the Center for Wind and Earthquake Engineering (CWE) of RWTH Aachen University, which oversees the research activities in two practical project modules. The curriculum includes innovative courses such as Green Construction, introducing students to comprehensive sustainability concepts for buildings or infrastructure projects.
Interdisciplinary Excellence
The program offers a unique combination of study content from civil engineering and architecture, as well as lectures from structural mechanics, aiming to educate highly specialized civil engineers capable of meeting the challenges of current and future construction projects. Students will learn about the Building Information Modelling (BIM) process to grasp current trends in the construction industry.
Application and Admission
Applications for the intake of 2024 can be submitted starting from December 2. The program is designed for individuals seeking to specialize in resilient civil engineering, with the goal of creating more intelligent, sustainable, and resilient infrastructures in the face of growing challenges from natural disasters and climate change.
