Program Overview

Zertifikat Leadership Excellence

The "Zertifikat Leadership Excellence" (formerly RWTH Leadership Certificate for University Lecturers) can be obtained by appointed leaders. This certificate is mandatory for newly appointed, junior, and tenure track professors.

There are two ways to achieve this:

1. Participate in events offered by the Postdoc Academy and/or the Professorinnen- und Professorenprogramm of the Center for Professional Leadership (CPL) and complete the following modules:

• Welcome workshop for newly appointed professors
• Workshop "Gesprächsführung I" (and/or Workshop "Gesprächsführung II")
• Certificate "Prof.essionelle Lehre"
• Freely chosen offers from the CPL and Center for Lehr- und Lernservices (CLS) program, totaling six seminar days or 64 teaching units

2. Junior professors can alternatively complete the qualification course for leaders from science, administration, and technology.

The qualification course takes place over six two-day periods with a fixed participant group. The duration is approximately 15 months. Registration is done by email within a previously announced registration period.

Program Details

• The Zertifikat Leadership Excellence is designed for newly appointed, junior, and tenure track professors.
• The program consists of two possible paths:
  • Path 1: Completion of specific modules offered by the Postdoc Academy and/or the Professorinnen- und Professorenprogramm of the Center for Professional Leadership (CPL).
  • Path 2: Completion of the qualification course for leaders from science, administration, and technology.
• The program aims to provide leaders with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in their roles.

Requirements

• Newly appointed, junior, and tenure track professors are eligible to participate in the program.
• Participants must complete the required modules or the qualification course to obtain the Zertifikat Leadership Excellence.

Research Areas

• The program focuses on leadership development and does not have specific research areas.

Tuition Fees

• The program details do not mention tuition fees.

Admission Criteria

• The program is mandatory for newly appointed, junior, and tenure track professors.
• Participants must meet the eligibility criteria and complete the required modules or qualification course to obtain the Zertifikat Leadership Excellence.
