Program Overview
Introduction to the Program
The RWTH Aachen University, in cooperation with the Bergische Universität Wuppertal, offers a new, practice-oriented Bachelor's program in Elementary School Teaching. This program is designed to provide students with a solid foundation in educational science and two teaching subjects, as well as practical experience in schools.
Program Structure
The Bachelor's program in Elementary School Teaching is a six-semester program with 180 credit points. The program consists of four subject areas:
- Language Education
- Mathematics Education
- Science Education
- Educational Science
In addition to these subject areas, students will also participate in practical training and project work.
Admission Requirements
To be admitted to the program, applicants must have a valid higher education entrance qualification, such as a high school diploma or a subject-specific higher education entrance qualification. Applicants must also demonstrate proficiency in German at the C1 level or DSH-II.
Application Process
The application period for the program runs from May 2 to July 15. Applications must be submitted online through the RWTH Aachen University's application portal. After submitting the application, applicants will receive a confirmation email with further instructions.
Tuition Fees
Students at RWTH Aachen University pay a semester fee of currently 304.47 euros (as of summer semester 2025). The semester fee includes a student body and social contribution.
Career Prospects
The Bachelor's program in Elementary School Teaching prepares students for a career as an elementary school teacher. After completing the program, students can pursue a Master's degree in Elementary School Teaching, which qualifies them for a teaching position at an elementary school. Alternatively, students can pursue other careers in education, such as working in adult education or as a teacher trainer.
