Program Description
The M.Sc. CAME program responds to the increasing demand for fundamental knowledge in modeling and simulation techniques for mechanical engineers across all industries. It combines basic knowledge in manufacturing, design, automation, production, and simulation. Students learn to create digital twins of technical objects and systems to offer simulation solutions for complex design tasks in mechanical engineering. The program deepens knowledge in important engineering sciences such as the finite element method, numerical methods, continuum mechanics, and multibody dynamics, and teaches current AI topics like intelligent monitoring of technical systems or artificial neural networks.
Study Course
The M.Sc. CAME is a full-time, on-campus program leading to a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree from RWTH Aachen. Students can choose between two specializations that match their personal interests:
- Conception of Machines
- Production of Machines Both specializations consist of common basic courses, different elective courses, and practical events such as exercises and laboratory units. Additionally, an internship in industry or a research paper (mini-thesis) is an integral part of both specializations. Students learn to design, develop, and apply modern computer simulation technologies for high-tech products to improve mechanical constructions and productions.
Prerequisites
Prerequisite for admission is a first university degree that demonstrates the necessary prerequisite knowledge as specified in the examination regulations. Furthermore, a GRE certificate with minimum scores of 145 VR, 160 QR, 3 AW (only for non-EU applicants) and professional experience of at least 6 months are mandatory admission requirements. Graduates of the Master Qualification Program German Engineering College (GEC) offered by the RWTH International Academy do not need to submit a GRE certificate for their application. The examination board determines whether applicants fulfill the admission requirements.
Career Prospects
Graduates of the M.Sc. CAME are experts in digital engineering and have in-depth knowledge in advanced software engineering. They are able to program digital models and simulations for Industry 4.0 production processes. They can work interdisciplinary in the areas of CAD, CAM, and CAE and qualify for leadership positions in the automotive industry, environmental sector, or biomedicine. After completing their Master's studies at RWTH Aachen University, graduates are also qualified for a Ph.D.
Examination Regulations
The general examination regulations that apply to all Bachelor's and Master's programs, as well as detailed information on the required proof of language skills, can be found in the overarching examination regulations. Examination regulations are only published in German, as they are legally binding.
The program-specific examination regulations govern the study objectives, the structure of the studies, and the examination modalities. The appendix contains the description of the modules that make up the program.
Faculty
The M.Sc. CAME program is a practice-oriented program offered by one of the oldest institutes of RWTH Aachen, the Institute of General Mechanics of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering.
Additional Information
Some of the university's programs are offered in cooperation with other (private) institutions. They are therefore not part of the public-law study program and are not subject to the legal regulations, for example, for the allocation of study places. In some cases, they are subject to a fee and require a phase of professional practice.
Binding information on requirements, application modalities, study place allocation, and study content is provided exclusively by the provider, to whom you should also submit your application.
