Program Overview
The Master of Education in German for Teaching at Vocational Colleges is a four-semester program that prepares students for a career in teaching German at vocational colleges. The program is designed to provide students with a comprehensive education in German language and literature, as well as pedagogy and didactics.
Program Structure
The program consists of three main components:
- Fachdidaktische und schulpraktische Studien: This component focuses on the practical aspects of teaching German at vocational colleges, including lesson planning, classroom management, and assessment.
- Fachwissenschaftliche Studien: This component provides students with a deeper understanding of German language and literature, including literary theory, linguistics, and cultural studies.

Admission Requirements
To be eligible for the program, students must have:
- A bachelor's degree in German or a related field
- A strong academic record, with a minimum grade point average of 3.0
- Proficiency in German, with a minimum level of C1 according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR)
- A letter of motivation, outlining their reasons for pursuing a career in teaching German at vocational colleges
Program Details
The program includes the following modules:
- Literatur im interdisziplinären Kontext: This module explores the intersection of literature and other disciplines, such as history, philosophy, and cultural studies.
- Literatur und Methodologie: This module introduces students to various methods and approaches in literary studies, including close reading, literary theory, and cultural criticism.
- Sprachtheorie und Sprachgeschichte: This module provides an overview of language theory and language history, including the development of the German language and its dialects.
- Deutsch für Schülerinnen und Schüler mit Zuwanderungsgeschichte: This module focuses on the teaching of German to students with a migration background, including language acquisition, cultural adaptation, and social integration.
Career Prospects
