Overview
The Master's program in Wirtschaftsingenieurwesen, Fachrichtung Elektrische Energietechnik (Industrial Engineering with a focus on Electrical Energy Technology) offers students the opportunity to deepen their knowledge acquired during their Bachelor's studies and specialize according to their individual interests. The study program is designed to be flexible, offering a module system that allows for the combination of compulsory and elective elements.
Characteristics of the Program at RWTH
The energy industry is a highly complex economic sector that requires economic, legal, and engineering expertise to meet the demands of a rapidly changing industry. With a focus on electrical energy technology, the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology offers a program that has its emphasis in the technically innovative area. Consequently, the study program focuses on the interface competence of future graduates.
Study Program
The study program consists of a flexible system of compulsory, elective, and optional modules. The choice of modules allows for personal design and emphasis, ensuring a broad scientific competence. The program is divided into an engineering and a business economics section, with additional modules in the soft skills area. The final degree is awarded after completing a Master's thesis.
Engineering Section
In the engineering section, the following modules must be taken:
- Error and stability of electrical power supply systems
- Practical training in energy technology
In addition, four core subjects and two secondary subjects must be chosen from the area of electrical energy technology or the corresponding module catalogs. Further modules, such as a seminar or project, and an elective subject from all specialization areas of electrical engineering, complete the technical part of the study program.
Business Economics Section
In the business economics section, students can choose from the following specialization areas:
- Sustainability and Corporations
- Operations Research and Management
- Innovation, Entrepreneurship, and Marketing
- Corporate Development and Strategy
- General Business and Economics
Modules within the specialization can usually be chosen freely. Additionally, individual modules can be taken outside the specialization in the general business economics area.
Admission Requirements
Admission to the program requires a first academic degree. The required academic background is specified in the examination regulations and is based on the contents of the corresponding Bachelor's program in Wirtschaftsingenieurwesen with a focus on Elektrische Energietechnik at RWTH Aachen. The examination board determines whether the admission requirements are met.
Pre-Internship
A pre-internship of at least 12 weeks is required before starting the program. The guidelines can be found in the examination regulations, Annex 3. Students who have completed a Bachelor's degree in Wirtschaftsingenieurwesen with a focus on Elektrische Energietechnik at RWTH Aachen have already completed this internship as part of their Bachelor's studies.
