Program Structure
The three-semester program is divided into two parts. During the two-semester examination phase, students must complete all accompanying compulsory and elective modules. In the final third semester, students work independently on a defined scientific topic and complete their master's thesis.
Research Areas
The program covers various research areas, including:
- Aerodynamics: Experimental and numerical investigations of fundamental flow phenomena such as turbulence and vortex dynamics in laminar and turbulent flows, as well as flow acoustics.
- Antriebssysteme: Development of jet engines with regard to efficiency improvement, power concentration, operating behavior, operational safety, and environmental impact.
- Strukturentwurf und Leichtbau: Development and application of calculation methods for the design and dimensioning of lightweight structures made of metal or fiber-reinforced materials for aerospace.
- Flugsystemdynamik: Identification and targeted improvement of the movement and system behavior of aerospace systems; optimization of flight control, mission control, and automation of manned and unmanned systems up to autonomy.
- Luft- und Raumfahrtsysteme: Design and optimization of future innovative aircraft and spacecraft configurations; theoretical and experimental analysis of vortex wakes and noise sources for noise reduction.
Career Prospects
After completing the program, graduates have the opportunity to pursue a doctorate at one of the chairs of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering. Professional activities are possible in all technical areas of almost all industries and branches of industry, both domestically and internationally. Graduates are also qualified to work in integrative and interdisciplinary fields.
Module Handbook and Examination Regulations
The module handbook provides an overview of all modules in the program, while the examination regulations govern study goals, study prerequisites, study sequence, and examinations.
