Program Description
The M.Sc. in Textile Engineering is a unique interdisciplinary program, providing knowledge in the latest developments in textile technology such as high-performance fibers, medical smart textiles and implants or biomaterials and tailored reinforced fabric structures. Students will become experts in man-made fiber technology and textile fabrics production and master spinning, weaving, knitting/warp knitting and braiding. At the same time, they also gain in-depth knowledge of scientific work, which can be used for the industry or a further academic career.
Degree Content
The M.Sc. Textile Engineering is a full-time study program on campus in Aachen, leading to a M.Sc. degree to be awarded from RWTH Aachen University. The program offers two study tracks to specialize in:
- Coursework Track
- Research Track Students complete all compulsory modules taught in English, as well as several elective modules, which are also taught in German in the first part of the program. Followed by the second part, where students will independently work on a defined research topic, finish their master thesis, and complete an industrial internship.
Prerequisites
A prerequisite for starting this course of studies is a first university degree which proves the necessary background education as determined in the examination regulations. Furthermore, a GRE certificate with the minimum scores of 145 VR, 160 QR, 3 AW as well as practical work experience of at least 6 months are mandatory admission requirements. Graduates of the master’s qualification program German Engineering College (GEC), offered by RWTH International Academy, do not need to submit a GRE certificate with their application.
Career Prospects
After successfully completing the Master’s program in Textile engineering, graduates will be specialized engineers in textile technology who can design and develop new textile materials and manufacture them with new machines and processes and thus be able to work as Product Developer or Project Manager. Graduates are highly qualified experts set to work in the industries such as automotive, aeronautics, construction, healthcare, and energy and environment where innovative and marketable textile structures and fibers are becoming increasingly important.
