Space, Body and (De)Sign
The Space, Body and (De)Sign program is a workshop that teaches students how to describe spatial arrangements, forms, movement, and patterns using a visual-gestural language, specifically German Sign Language. The program is conducted at the Chair of Visual Design (BIG) as part of the optional courses of the master's studies. The workshop takes place each semester, back-to-back on 4 days, and consists of four modules. The students will learn how to describe space, form, and patterns in sign language. One of the modules serves as preparation for the exam. The educational objective of the workshop is to activate and improve the visual-spatial imagination by means of physical performance. The workshop is offered to students of engineering and informatics.
