Program Structure

The curriculum covers areas such as theoretical foundations of software system technology, communication, data and information management, applied computer science, and software development. Students can choose courses with a maximum of 35 credits in each of these areas but must take courses with at least 12 credits in theoretical foundations of software system technology and at least 16 credits in software development. This includes a mandatory course with four credits in managing large software system technology projects and courses with a total of 12 credits selected from a special compilation of lectures, core subjects, both in software development and theoretical foundations of software system technology.

Study Objectives

Graduates of the Software Systems Engineering program are expected to be technically innovative, work as system architects, and lead large projects. They also have the necessary qualifications to pursue a Ph.D.

Career Prospects

Informaticians are in high demand, and this trend is expected to continue. The ability to develop and implement computer software systems in an interdisciplinary environment opens doors to leadership and management positions, distinguishing this program from other master's programs in computer science.

Modules and Examinations

The master's examination consists of course-related examinations, two seminars, a lab course, an oral main examination on courses worth 12 to 18 credits, and the master's thesis. The master's thesis typically takes the last six months of the program and can be written in the context of an internship in industry or at the university.

Faculty

The Master's program in Software Systems Engineering is offered by the Faculty of Computer Science.
