Program Overview

The Internal M.D./Ph.D.-Program at the Medical Faculty of the RWTH Aachen offers a research-oriented postgraduate training. The program is a two- or three-year project-oriented training at the end of which, after a successful test, the title Dr. rer. nat. (3 years) or Dr. rer. medic. (2 years) will be awarded.

Program Layout

• The program consists of independent work on a research project as well as structured theoretical training in the form of lectures, seminars, and Soft Skill workshops.
• Per year, only five applicants will be eligible for the degree of Dr. rer. nat.
• The internal program guarantees intensive personalized supervision of each participant.

Entry Requirements

• Entry requirements are a university degree in medicine or dentistry.
• An ongoing employment contract exclusive with the UNIKLINIK RWTH Aachen is required.
• The previous career of the participant has shown a particular aptitude and motivation for academic work (documented by highly qualified doctoral work in medicine or dentistry).

Program Details

• Beginning with the winter semester 2010/2011 at the Medical Faculty of the RWTH Aachen, it will be possible to participate in a research-oriented MD/PhD program based on structured theoretical training.
