Program Overview
Introduction to the EMBA Program
The Executive Master of Business Administration (EMBA) program at the Graduate Institute of Information Management, National Taiwan University, aims to create CEOs with CIO's expertise and cultivate CIOs with CEO's vision. The program's training goal is to equip students with the knowledge and trend of information technology (IT) and understand the role of a CIO in an enterprise.
Position Statement
The program focuses on training CEOs to possess IT knowledge, understand the details of a CIO's job responsibilities, and know what IT strategies to apply. The program also aims to reinforce the management courses for IT people, focusing on the trend introduction of IT.
Program Characteristics
Information management is a strategic science combining information technology and management ability, aiming to build observations in all domains for benefiting the organization and raising the whole company's competitiveness through IT applications. The program combines information technology and management skills to cultivate students with the abilities to "master" or "excel in" information technologies.

Information System and Applications
This course introduces the trend of information technology, focusing on the fundamental framework and basic concept. It covers data mining technique, Web 2.0 application, information security, distributed systems, wireless applications, smart card applications, embedded systems applications, etc.
Information Technology and Competitive Strategy
This course focuses on the concept and practice of how IT applies to enterprises strategy management. It introduces the relationship between information technology and enterprise organization strategy, including interactions between IT and organizational strategy, strategy of business constructing IT, strategy of business constructing e-business, and more.
Research Areas
The program's research areas include IT application and strategy, with research methods such as case study, questionnaire, strategy analysis, etc. Students usually conduct thorough analyses on their employed organizations, and the research results and theses are fed back to the organizations for references.
