Add/Drop Method
- Add/Drop Order will be sent to the email filled in the form on 09/08 (Monday) 20:00.
- On 09/10 (Wednesday) 12:30 ~ 13:30, please arrive at the Department of Geosciences entrance on time and follow the rules:
- On-site roll call for registration. If you are late, you must wait until the entire list is called before you can register again.
- Bring your student ID for identity verification.
- Pay the fieldwork deposit of $2,000 in cash. The deposit is non-refundable once paid.
- After completing the identity verification and paying the deposit, you will receive the add/drop authorization code.
- The add/drop authorization code is for personal use only and cannot be transferred to others. If discovered, both parties will lose the add/drop eligibility for this semester.
- If you cannot attend on that day, you can ask another student to help with registration. They can show your student ID photo for identity verification, and the rest of the rules still apply.
Pre-Course Classes
- Class Time: 11/01 (Saturday) 09:00 ~ 12:00
- Class Location: Department of Geosciences Underground Large Lecture Hall
Before the pre-course class, please find the teaching assistant for registration and pay the remaining fieldwork fee ($3,500).
Room assignment and car selection will be conducted on the same day.
Rock Practice
- 11/01 (Saturday) 15:00 ~ 17:00: Teacher Chen Yu-Gao, Teacher Luo Qing-Hua
- 11/02 (Sunday) 10:00 ~ 12:00: Teacher Liu Ya-Xuan, Teacher Wang Yu
Gathering Location: In front of the department building
Please attend the rock practice according to the announced class time, and it will be conducted in groups.
If you are absent from the rock practice, you cannot make it up, so please ensure you attend.
Fieldwork
- Fieldwork Time: 11/14 (Friday) to 11/17 (Monday)
- Fieldwork Location: Hengchun Peninsula
The fieldwork accounts for 40% of the total score. If you cannot attend the fieldwork, you will definitely fail, so please confirm that you can attend all the announced times before taking this course.
Semester Exam
- Exam Time: 12/06 (Saturday) 10:00 ~ 12:00
- Exam Location: Department of Geosciences Underground Large Lecture Hall
If you cannot attend due to mourning, illness, or other reasons, please inform the teaching assistant in advance and provide proof. The make-up exam method will be decided by the teacher.
Other Notes
- This course does not provide public holidays, only provides fieldwork certificates (course attendance certificates). If the fieldwork time conflicts with other courses, please obtain the agreement of the other course teacher before selecting this course.
- Please ensure you are in good physical health, have normal limb activity, do not have heart disease, cancer, asthma, and are not pregnant or have other conditions that are not suitable for participating in intense field activities. If you have any of these conditions, it is not recommended to take this course.
- The fieldwork requires entering rivers, gravel beaches, and climbing coral reefs. Please assess your physical condition before taking the course.
- The fieldwork deposit of $2,000 is used for bus, hotel, and restaurant reservations. Once paid, it is non-refundable, so please confirm you can attend all the announced times.
- After the add/drop period, the department's website will no longer be updated. Please pay attention to the latest information on the NTU COOL bulletin board.
- Due to the professors' busy schedules, all matters (add/drop, leave, etc.) should be handled through the course teaching assistant.
