Endocrine Surgery Program Description
The Endocrine Surgery Fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) is a one-year program designed to educate and train future leaders in endocrine surgery. The program provides in-depth experience in the clinical workup, operative treatment, and postoperative care of patients with endocrine surgical disorders.

Objectives of the Program
The objectives of the program are to:
- Educate and train future leaders in endocrine surgery
- Provide in-depth experience in the clinical workup, operative treatment, and postoperative care of patients with endocrine surgical disorders
- Promote outstanding clinical and basic science research in endocrine surgery and oncology
Highlights of the Fellowship
The UCSF Endocrine Surgery Fellowship offers a high-volume experience in:
- Thyroid surgery
- Parathyroid surgery
- Adrenal surgery
- Endocrine pancreas surgery The fellow participates in a range of cases, from straightforward operations to complex lymph node dissections, reoperative surgery, and advanced laparoscopic endocrine surgical operations.
In addition to clinical work, the fellow is provided opportunities to pursue multiple research projects of their design and choosing, often in collaboration with non-surgical faculty and researchers at UCSF. Prior fellows have performed research in a broad variety of topics, including:
- Basic science
- Clinical trials
- Outcomes and health care quality
- Surgical technologies
- Global health
- Medical history
- Medical informatics
