Complex Medical Dermatology Fellowship

The Complex Medical Dermatology Fellowship is a one-year program that focuses on caring for outpatients with complex medical conditions, including autoimmune blistering diseases, rheumatologic/dermatologic diseases, severe eczemas, severe psoriasis, cutaneous diseases with systemic manifestations, and complications of immunosuppression and transplantation using systemic immunosuppressants and biologics.

Program Description

The fellowship aims to improve the skills of fellows in the evaluation and management of skin disorders in critically ill hospitalized patients and in the management of hospitalized patients with severe dermatologic diseases. Fellows will be mentored in determining a distinct area for career development and will conduct research and complete publications.

• Eligibility Requirements: Completion of Dermatology residency anticipated by the time of fellowship, CA Medical License
• Salary: PGY-5
• Accreditation Status: Not ACGME accredited

Faculty

The fellowship is directed by Lindy P. Fox, MD, with additional faculty including Kanade Shinkai, MD, PhD, Timothy Berger, MD, Anna Haemel, MD, and Ryan “Yoshi” Arakaki, MD.

Career Development

Upon completion of the fellowship, fellows should be well-equipped to become junior faculty practicing medical dermatology and conducting research in an academic dermatology department.
