GEARE Program Overview
The GEARE (Global Engineering Alliance for Research and Education) program is designed to equip students with essential professional skills for success in international internships and academic exchanges. The program includes a series of courses that provide students with the tools needed to thrive in global engineering environments.
GEARE Courses
The following courses are part of the GEARE program:
- ENGR 29600 GEARE Professional Prep (1 credit) This course introduces students to the full GEARE timeline, including study abroad planning, domestic and global internships, foreign language requirements, and integration with their plan of study.
- ENGR 29701 Global Engineering Pre-departure (1 credit) This course is required for students participating in the GEARE program and is taken prior to the international study abroad or internship experience.
- ENGR 39700 Global Engineering Experience (1 credit) This course is required for students participating in the GEARE program and is taken online during their international experience.
- ENGR 49700 Global Engineering Capstone (1 credit) This course is required for students participating in the GEARE program and is taken after completing their international experience.
- ENGR 39697 Global Sustainable Engineering (3 credits) This course explores global engineering projects through both technical and humanistic lenses, helping students develop culturally informed critical thinking skills.
