Comparative Literature Program
The Comparative Literature Program at Rutgers is a thriving interdisciplinary program that offers an undergraduate major and minor, as well as an innovative and wide-ranging doctoral program.
Program Description
Comparative Literature students consider texts and performances across multiple languages, histories, disciplines, and media. The program is especially suited for students who speak languages in addition to English, providing a unique and congenial environment for literary, linguistic, and cultural study. Each major or minor constructs a personalized course of study with the supervision and support of the distinguished faculty.
Faculty
- The faculty includes renowned scholars such as Prof. Nerlekar, co-winner of the 2025 Wellek Prize, and Prof. Maurer, who has published "The Ocean on Fire."
- The program is led by Ben. Sifuentes-Jáuregui, the new Comp Lit chair.
- The program also remembers Prof. Steven F. Walker.
Student Achievements
- Students in the program have achieved notable successes, including the organization of the "Body in Excess": Rutgers Comp Lit 2025 Graduate Student Biennial Conference.
- Congratulations to Sneha Khaund and Yuanqiu Jiang on their achievements.
