Introduction to the Bachelor of Science in Public Health Program
The Bachelor of Science in Public Health program at Rutgers-Mercer County Community College is designed for prospective transfer students from Mercer County Community College. This advising guide outlines the requirements and recommendations for students interested in transferring into the program.
Program Requirements
To be eligible for the program, students must complete the following required courses at Mercer County Community College:
- BIO103 – Anatomy and Physiology I
- CHE107 – General and Physiological Chemistry
- MAT125 – Elementary Statistics I
These courses should be completed as part of or in addition to an Associate Degree program. The recommended associate’s degree program at Mercer is the AS in Public Health. Completion of an Associate in Arts (A.A.) or an Associate in Science (A.S.) is strongly recommended.
Transfer Credits and Degree Completion
Students may transfer up to 60 credits from a community college to the Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy and must receive a grade of C or better for a course to be transferred in. Students must complete a minimum of 30 credits at Rutgers to earn a Rutgers degree.
Course Format and Recommendations
Courses for the Public Health degree at Rutgers-Mercer are a combination of courses taught in-person at the Mercer West Windsor campus and online. Students interested in transferring into this program should be comfortable with taking some online and hybrid courses. It is strongly recommended to consult with a Rutgers at Mercer Advisor prior to applying to transfer to discuss transfer eligibility.
