Overview
The Certified Legal Secretary course is designed to equip students with the necessary skills to begin work as a legal secretary and prepare for the Accredited Legal Professional (ALP) certification exam through NALS, the Association of Legal Professionals. This course will help students gain the skills needed to enter the legal profession, regardless of the type of law that interests them. Lawyers rely on legal professionals to coordinate daily functions, maintain schedules, manage clients, file documents, draft paperwork, and more. Students will learn basic legal terminology, office procedures, management advice, basic accounting, and QuickBooks. Throughout the course, students will discover what it is like to work in this fast-paced, exciting, and in-demand field.

Requirements
Prerequisites
In order to sit for the ALP exam, students need to meet the exam eligibility requirements independent of this course. To sit for the ALP exam, students must have completed one of the following:
- Completion of an accredited business/legal course
- Completion of a NALS Legal Training Course
- One year of general office experience

- This course can be taken on either a PC or Mac.
Software Requirements
- PC: Windows 7 or later.
- Mac: macOS 10.6 or later.
- Browser: The latest version of Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox is preferred. Microsoft Edge and Safari are also compatible.
- Microsoft Office or equivalent (not included in enrollment).
- Adobe Acrobat Reader.
- Software must be installed and fully operational before the course begins.
