Department of Anthropology

The Department of Anthropology offers various programs for undergraduate and graduate students.

Undergraduate Programs

• The department provides three majors:
  • B.A. in Anthropology
  • B.A. in Cultural Anthropology
  • B.S. in Evolutionary Anthropology
• Four minors are also offered.
• A Certificate in Evolutionary Medicine is available.
• Courses and course schedules are provided, including summer and winter courses.
• Student advising and honors programs are available, with an undergraduate honors timeline.
• Careers in anthropology, field schools, internships, and undergraduate clubs are also part of the program.

• Course Description: Cultural dimensions of wealth and power in historical and contemporary Africa, including popular culture, media, ethnicity, genocide, urban and rural life, globalization, social change, development, gender relations, political ecology, conservation, tourism, and Africa as a discursive and imaginative object.
• Prerequisite: 01:070:101 or Permission of Instructor.
