Program Details

• Beginning Sewing II: Basic Garment Construction is a class offered under the Lifelong Learning program.
  • This class is designed for individuals who know the basics of their sewing machine and want to explore clothing construction.
  • Students will learn how to use fabrics in various projects, master common seam techniques, install pockets, and read patterns.
  • The class aims to build on students' sewing knowledge with practical garment construction skills.
• The class is open to anyone 18 years or older, and individuals do not need to be matriculated University students, current students, or staff to participate.
• Exceptions may be made for individuals 15 years or older, who can email for more information.

  • Starting date: 04/06/2026
  • Class location: MAKE Salt Lake (663 W 100 S, SLC)
  • Students are required to provide their own sewing machine and most of their own supplies.
  • A list of required supplies can be found online.
  • Students can expect to carry their machines for about a 5-minute walk to the classroom.
  • Snacks and drinks are allowed in class.

  • Tuition: $199.00
  • Special Fee: $80.00 (for shared supplies and studio rental)
  • Total: $279.00
