EMT Initial Certification Program

The EMT Initial Certification program is offered by UVA Health Prehospital Services.

Program Details

• The program starts on July 14, 2025, and ends on November 18, 2025.
• Classes and labs are held every Tuesday from 8a-4p and are mandatory.
• The first week of class will meet on Monday, July 14, 2025, from 8a-4p and Tuesday, July 15, 2025, from 8a-4p.
• The program includes online learning, in-person lectures with labs, and hospital clinical rotations.
• The hospital clinical rotations consist of one adult emergency department rotation.
• The lab and class location is 2205 Fontaine Avenue, Suite 302, Charlottesville, VA 22903.

Program Costs

• The cost of the program is $1,180, which includes the online learning system, EMS testing, online textbook, and program shirt for clinical and lab rotations.
• Additional costs include a paper textbook (not required), cognitive exam, and clinical parking.

Program Registration

• Class registration is limited to 12 students.
• The program does not follow the UVA Academic Calendar, which will be discussed during the registration process.

Program Structure

• The program combines online learning with in-person lectures and labs.
• Hospital clinical rotations are also a part of the program.
• The program is designed to provide students with the necessary skills and knowledge to become certified EMTs.
