Program Overview

The Emory Summer College is a nonresidential program that allows exceptional high school students, who have completed their sophomore or junior year, to enroll in Emory undergraduate courses and earn college credit. International students are eligible to enroll in Summer College online courses without a visa; however, an F-1 visa is required for those participating in on-campus classes.

Program Features

• Learn alongside Emory undergraduates
• Begin an official Emory University college transcript with transferable credits
• Join an online course from anywhere around the world
• Choose from more than 40 courses, including Astronomy, Biology, Chemistry, Creative Writing, Language sequences, Physics, and Psychology
• Explore Emory's vibrant campus and all it has to offer with access to facilities for in-person classes

• Average Class Size: 28
• Classes with less than 30 Students: 77%

Technology Requirements

• Windows or Apple Computer
• High-speed internet connection (dial-up is not sufficient)
• Microphone headset and webcam
• Emory College Online courses utilize the Canvas platform and Zoom Video Conferencing for synchronous (live) sessions

Netiquette Guidelines

Synchronous Class Meetings

• Keep video on whenever possible
• Check browsers and documents before sharing and avoid sharing content that is inappropriate for class
• Use virtual backgrounds to protect your privacy
• Dress appropriately, as you would for face-to-face class
• Use mute function in a large class when you are not talking
• Wait until the person finishes talking before you start to talk

Online Discussion Board

DO:

• Check grammar and spelling before posting
• Credit others by citing your sources
• Use standard fonts optimized for online reading & sizes that are easily readable
• Be concise

DO NOT:

• Use sarcasm, profanity, or offensive language
• Write in all caps, as it can be interpreted as yelling
• Use slang or emoticons
• Share private or sensitive information
