Film and Media Major
The Film and Media major is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the film and media industry.
Requirements

Course Requirements
The following courses are required for the major:
- FILM 101: Introduction to Film (4 credits)
- FILM 102: Introduction to TV and Digital Media (4 credits)
- 2 classes in Film and Media History (8 credits)
- Students can choose from the following:
- FILM 201: Film History I
- FILM 202: Film History II
- FILM 203: American Television History
- FILM 204: Documentary Film and Media History
- FILM 205: History of Photography
- 1 class in Film and Media Theory (4-5 credits)
- Students can choose from the following:
- FILM 381: Film Theory (WR)
- FILM 382: Digital and New Media Theory
- 1 class in Film and Media making (3-4 credits)
- Students can choose from the following:
- FILM 106: Photography I
- FILM 107: Introduction to Digital Video
- FILM 300R: Filmmaking Practicum
- FILM 378RW: Screenwriting
- Five Electives (18-20 credits)
- Of these electives, students are required to take: a. 1 Film and Media class at the 400-level, and b. 1 class that focuses on non-US cinema/media class OR a class that focuses on race, gender, and/or ethnicity in the media.
