Program Overview

Introduction to the Master's Program

The Faculty of Theology at the University of Copenhagen offers a Master's program as a flexible course of study. This program is designed for working professionals who have a relevant prior higher education degree and relevant work experience.

Program Structure

The flexible Master's program is normed to one year of full-time study (60 ECTS). The program is tailored individually, typically consisting of three Master's courses of 15 ECTS each and a final Master's thesis of 15 ECTS. One of the three courses can be taken at another faculty. Most students take the program part-time over a period of 2-3 years alongside their job. The program must be completed within six years of enrollment.

Teaching and Learning

Many students taking the flexible Master's program follow compact courses lasting 1-2 weeks (typically in January, May, August, or November). These compact courses are led by one of the faculty's own researchers, often with the involvement of Danish and international guest lecturers. Students can also enroll in other Master's courses at the Faculty of Theology, but must be aware of the course's academic prerequisites.

Admission Requirements

The admission requirement is a combination of an educational and an employment requirement. Applicants must have an education that is at least equivalent to a relevant medium-cycle higher education degree, a professional Bachelor's degree, a Bachelor's degree, or a diploma degree completed as a regulated course. Additionally, applicants must have at least two years of relevant work experience after completing the qualifying education.
