Course Description
The objective of the course is to enable students to prepare and process drone data for use in forestry, landscape, and park management. The course focuses on planning and processing, without data collection.
Course Content
- Planning of drone data acquisition, including RGB and multispectral photos as well as LIDAR
- Planning of Ground Control Points
- Production of orthophotos with RGB and spectral data, and Point Cloud
- Validation of data
Learning Objectives
Knowledge:
- Familiarity with planning, heights, overlap, Ground Control Points, Orthophoto, Point Cloud, DTM, DSM, Raster bands, spectral photos, NVDI
Skills:
- Installing and setting up software for drone data processing
- Defining and planning flights for data collection over areas with different characteristics
- Explaining the choice of functions in different contexts of data processing
- Applying various tools to produce products from aerial photos
Competencies:
- Structuring data and selecting relevant functions to solve problem statements in professionally relevant tasks within the administration of subject areas for Forestry and Landscape Engineers and Urban Landscape Engineers.
Teaching Materials
Students are required to bring their own computer with installed software before the first lesson. The course uses OpenSource programs WebODM and QGIS.
Teaching Method
The course employs "flipped learning," where students prepare through reading, watching videos, and practicing smaller tasks before the lesson. The lesson consists of a short lecture followed by a case study. Case studies are worked on in groups, and preparation is necessary to participate.
