Program Objectives

• Identify land animals to order/underorder and justify this based on knowledge of relevant diagnostic features.
• Gain an overview of the biological diversity of groups, including examples of adaptations to lifestyles and relationships with other organisms.
• Understand the evolutionary history of land animals and the threats they face in the current biodiversity crisis.
• Demonstrate familiarity with the structure and function of arthropod bodies.
• Acquire knowledge of structural terminology to apply standard determination literature.
• Demonstrate knowledge of the biological significance of notable external and internal structures.
• Gain the ability to communicate knowledge about the diversity and importance of land animals.

Examination

The examination consists of a 30-minute oral test without preparation, where students are presented with a small selection of animals (preserved material or photos) to identify and answer questions focusing on structural aspects, systematic-evolutionary aspects, or comparative aspects.
