Program Details
- Evolutionary Ecology: This course explores the principles of evolutionary ecology, including mating systems, sexual selection, decision making, and the evolution of communication.
- Course content: Mating systems and sexual selection; decision making and the evolution of communication; life histories in animals and microbes; life history traits: genetic variation and phenotypic plasticity; mutualistic interactions and their evolutionary stability; social evolution: cooperation and conflict; parasite-host interactions.
- Learning outcome: To give students an understanding of life-history adaptations, of their ecological context, genetic variation and evolution.
- Teaching and learning methods: Nine hours of lectures and seminar class work per week for the first six weeks, followed by a literature study and a 5-page essay on a topic related to course papers.

- Recommended prerequisites: Academic qualifications equivalent to a BSc degree is recommended.
- Feedback form: Oral, continuous feedback during the course of the semester, and peer feedback.
- Exam: On-site written exam, 2 hours multiple choice under invigilation, and a written assignment, 5-page essay.
- ECTS: 7.5 ECTS
- Type of assessment: The final grade is given based on the essay (50%) and the written exam (50%).
- Aid: No aids allowed
- Marking scale: 7-point grading scale
- Censorship form: No external censorship, two internal examiners
- Re-exam: The same as ordinary exam, involving writing an essay based on a new essay title and taking a new 2-hour written multiple choice exam.
