Program Overview
Applied Movement Science
The Applied Movement Science program is designed to prepare students for careers in health and fitness-related fields, such as personal training, strength and conditioning coaching, sport performance coaching, sports coaching, or physical activity public health specialist.
Preparing for the Major
To prepare for this major, high school students are advised to take as many math and science courses as possible. Additionally, shadowing a professional in the field of interest is recommended. For students currently attending another college or university, it is essential to contact an academic advisor to ensure that the classes taken will transfer.
Program Overview
As an Applied Movement Science major, students will take more than 30 hours of Kinesiology and Health Education classes, including core courses that provide the foundation needed to excel in the cognate classes specific to this major. Some of the course options include:

Study Abroad Opportunities
The university offers study abroad opportunities that allow students to experience the world and gain hands-on experience internationally. One recommended program is the Exercise and Sports for Health, Fitness, and Performance program in Japan, which provides students with an understanding of the impacts of sports and exercise on health, fitness, and performance.

The Department of Kinesiology and Health Education is home to over 20 well-funded research labs that focus on promoting and understanding physical activity, health, movement, behavior, and physical culture and sport.
