Undergraduate Program in Radio-Television-Film

The University of Texas at Austin offers a comprehensive undergraduate program in Radio-Television-Film (RTF) that prepares students for a range of careers in media and entertainment industries, the creative arts, higher education, and more. Theory/Practice Curriculum

The RTF program features a theory/practice curriculum that combines hands-on learning with critical thinking and analysis. Students learn about all aspects of the storytelling process, including filmmaking, directing, screenwriting, audio engineering, and more.

Hands-on Practice

As an RTF major, students dive deep into learning all aspects of screenwriting, production, and creation. They gain experience running a multi-camera set, writing scripts, animating in 3D, editing audio in post-production, programming games, directing films, and more. Many students also assist with production for graduate student projects, gaining invaluable experience and making creative connections.


Critical Thinking

Media studies courses help students think contextually and critically about the media they create and consume. Students learn to understand the historical, technological, and cultural landscape of media production and consumption.
