Bachelor of Science in Radio-Television-Film

Overview

The Bachelor of Science in Radio-Television-Film is a degree program offered by the Moody College of Communication. To be awarded this degree, candidates must complete 120 semester hours of coursework and fulfill the University's General Requirements, college graduation requirements, and the requirements and policies listed in Academic Policies and Procedures.


Degree Requirements Common to All Moody Majors

  • Core curriculum
  • Six semester hours of coursework focusing on communication foundations: Communication 301E and 302E
  • Students must satisfy a language and culture requirement in one of the following ways:
    • Demonstrating intermediate proficiency in a single language other than English
    • Demonstrating beginning-level proficiency in a language other than English and taking one approved culture course in a culture that is relevant to the language
  • Enough additional coursework to make a total of 120 semester hours

Major Requirements

At least 39, but no more than 54, semester hours of radio-television-film, of which at least 21 hours must be upper-division. All students must take:


  1. Radio-Television-Film 301D
  2. Radio-Television-Film 302D
  3. Radio-Television-Film 303D
  4. Radio-Television-Film 304D
  5. Radio-Television-Film 330N, 350L, or 350N
  6. Nine upper-division media studies hours chosen from the following:
  • Radio-Television-Film 321C, 321D, 322D, 323C, 324C, 327C, 328C, 331K, 331P, 331Q, 335, 342, 342S, 345, 347D, 347F, 347P, 347S, 352, 359, 359C, 359S, 365, 368S (Topic 2), 370, 377H, 377S, Fine Arts 346
  1. 15 additional hours of radio-television-film coursework

Courses

Because prerequisites are subject to change, students should consult the Course Schedule before registering. Most upper-division radio-television-film courses in production are restricted to radio-television-film majors. The Department of Radio-Television-Film reserves the right to retain and to use for noncommercial purposes copies of all work completed by students as part of departmental course assignments.
