Program Overview
Admission to the DVM Program
The DVM program at the University of Calgary Faculty of Veterinary Medicine has a competitive admission process.
Admission Requirements
A complete application consists of:
- The completed application form
- The application fee
- Post-secondary transcripts submitted by all academic institutions attended
- MCAT Score released to the University of Calgary
- Proof of Alberta residency documents, including a current Alberta Driver’s License or Alberta Identification Card, and a valid Alberta Health Care card
- Signed Declaration
- Three received references, including:
- Identification and contact information of the three references, including two professional references and one personal reference
- Referees must include an instructor at a post-secondary institution, a supervisor from a work/volunteer setting, and a personal reference who is a non-relative or close friend
- Referees will be contacted directly and provided with a pre-set list of questions that will be used to determine the applicant’s suitability for Veterinary Medicine
Admission Timeline
The admission timeline for the UCVM Class of 2030 is as follows:
- Oct. 3, 2025: Application cycle opens
- Nov. 28, 2025: Application deadline, with no extensions granted for any reason
- Nov. 28, 2025: MCAT Scores to be released to the University of Calgary Faculty of Veterinary Medicine
- Jan. 16, 2026: Deadline to receive transcripts from Fall 2025 semester
- Feb. 2026: Evaluation of applications and file review
- Feb. 23, 2026: Interview (MMI) invitations sent out via email
- March 13, 2026: Essay portion of the interview process
- March 14, 2026: Interview day – Multiple Mini-Interview (online)
- April 9, 2026: Casper Test Date
- April - May 2026: Evaluation of data by the Admissions Committee
- May 2026: Approval of invitation list for Class of 2030
- May 15, 2026: Deadline to receive transcripts from Winter 2026 semester
- May 22, 2026: Initial offers of admission made to successful applicants, pending receipt of final transcripts
