The University of Calgary Continuing Education is constantly reviewing and refreshing curriculum in recognition of the evolving demands of today's markets.
Impact on Current Program
Students who wish to include the Community Economic Development courses in their Certificate in Professional Management - Economic Developers will have until April 2026 to take the courses and complete the program. Continuing Education will stop running the three Community Economic Development courses effective Fall 2024. These courses will still be available for registration through Economic Developers Alberta (EDA).

Options for Program Completion
Students can continue to take Community Economic Development courses with University of Calgary Continuing Education until August 2024. As of September 1, 2024, students can take these courses with EDA and then transfer their course credits to meet the program requirements of the Certificate in Professional Management - Economic Developers. The maximum transferrable credit is 30 hours.
Next Steps
Students who have been admitted and completed courses towards the Certificate in Professional Management - Economic Developers have until April 30, 2026 to complete the remaining requirements in their program. Alternatively, these students may choose to transfer to another specialization in the Certificate in Professional Management. If students are not interested in transferring or completing the specialization in Economic Developers, they can obtain a full refund for their admission fee.
