Surgical Foundations Program
Overview
Surgical Foundations is a Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada accredited program. It is the initial period of postgraduate training needed to acquire the knowledge, skills, and attitudes underlying the basics to the practice of surgery and preparatory to further training in a surgical specialty or sub-specialty.
Program Objectives
The program objectives refer to exit competencies for which a junior surgical resident must be evaluated by the end of PGY-2. The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons Surgical Foundations exam is typically held in the fall of the residents’ PGY 2 year.
