Program Overview


Interprofessional Graduate Certificate in Improvement Science and Implementation

The Graduate Certificate in Improvement Science and Implementation is interprofessional by design, preparing practicing professionals and degree-seeking students from across education, healthcare, and social services to achieve better outcomes by combining knowledge about “what works” with the know-how for enacting organizational change.


Program Details

  • Best for: Current graduate students and practicing, non-degree-seeking professionals looking to enhance their know-how for enacting transformative change within organizations and systems.
  • Program Length: 3 courses (9 credit hours) taken in early spring, late spring, and fall
  • Program Design: Designed with professional students and in-practice professionals in mind, the certificate program is a blended program designed to be completed in 12 months, with online asynchronous lessons and 6-8 weekends (Friday evening and Saturday) of face-to-face project-based learning.

Program Cost

  • Estimated Program Cost: Tuition is assessed on a standard per-credit hour basis. The certificate is 9 credit hours.
    • For current UNC-Chapel Hill graduate students: Graduate tuition is capped at nine credit hours per semester, meaning students should not pay for credit hours beyond nine.
    • For those not currently a UNC-Chapel Hill student: Information about tuition and fees for North Carolina residents and out-of-state residents.
    • For current graduate students at Duke, North Carolina Central, NC State, UNC Charlotte, and UNC Greensboro: Information about tuition and fees and how to apply for interinstitutional credit.
  • Tuition Assistance: Students can ask their employer about any tuition assistance benefits they may provide. If students are a UNC-Chapel Hill or UNC Health employee, they are likely eligible for tuition waivers.
