Program Overview
The Certificate Program in Radiography is a collaborative effort between The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and two area medical facilities – Duke University Health System and UNC Health. This program is privately funded, and its continuation is contingent on sustained funding from these facilities.
Program Details
- The program is full-time, with courses taught Monday-Friday, 8:00 am – 5:00 pm.
- Courses are face-to-face with lab components.
- Upon completion of the 19-month program, graduates receive a Certificate in Radiography and meet the educational requirement for the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification examination.
Mission
The UNC Certificate Program in Radiography prepares students to practice competently and effectively as radiologic technologists (radiographers) in medical center settings and community hospitals.
Accreditation
The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) to award baccalaureate, masters, educational specialist, and doctorate degrees. This accreditation allows students to meet the eligibility requirement for education for the national American Registry of Radiologic Technologists certification examination.
Financial Information
- Fees: approximately $1000/semester (to be determined each August)
- Books and educational supplies: approximately $1500 for the entire program (most books are purchased in the first semester)

- Park and Ride Permits: approximately $500 for the program duration
- Uniforms: approximately $75/set + shoes + lab coat
- Class/lab/clinical travel
- Immunizations/criminal background check/drug screening/health insurance
- Application fee for the ARRT certification exam: approximately $225
