Program Overview

The Certified Zoning Official (CZO) program is designed to equip professionals with the administrative skills necessary for reviewing plans, inspecting sites, enforcing ordinances, and providing service to customers. Special attention is given to the enforcement of ordinances in the field.


Certification Requirements

To become a Certified Zoning Official, applicants must:


  • Complete the Planning and Development Regulation course
  • Correctly answer at least 70 percent of the questions on the CZO exam
