MTE Program Structure

Core Courses – Block 1 Courses (30 Credits)

The core courses provide students with substantial strengths and depths in conceptual and analytical management foundations and solid quantitative methodological competencies.


  • Examples of courses:
    • Applied Probability and Stochastic Processes
    • Introduction to Econometrics
    • Principles of Finance

Disciplinary Minor (30 Credits)

Students must complete a “disciplinary minor” in the field of their bachelor's.


  • The disciplinary minor includes 30 credits of master-level courses chosen in the study plans of the other EPFL sections.
  • The domain of the disciplinary minor is decided by the MTE section, based on the student’s bachelor.
  • The choice of courses must be approved by the MTE section and by the concerned minor advisors.

Options / Electives (30 Credits)

The elective courses allow students to round off their education and provide more specific competencies in different areas of management.


  • Examples of courses:
    • Entrepreneurship and new venture strategy
    • Leading and Managing in a Global Context
    • Strategic marketing and technology commercialization

Master Project in Industry (30 Credits)

Carried out in the industry, the 6-month master project gives students the opportunity to put into practice the methodological and technical competencies acquired during their studies.

The Society of Managerial Engineering (SME) is the student association of EPFL’s Master in Management, Technology & Entrepreneurship (MTE). Its mission is to provide students with the non-academic tools and networking opportunities required for a successful professional life.
