EPFLglobaLeaders Doctoral Fellowship Programme
The EPFLglobaLeaders is a doctoral fellowship programme designed to fund early-stage researchers in becoming leaders in the transition towards sustainable societies. The programme offers a multifaceted training programme, including a secondment in the non-academic sector.
Disciplines
EPFLglobaLeaders fellowships are available in any discipline included in the research areas of EPFL. The programme is open to applicants to any of the 22 doctoral programmes available at EPFL.
Collaboration
The programme involves a collaboration with the non-academic sector, including a stay of 3 to 12 months in the non-academic sector. A formal or informal co-supervision of the PhD thesis by the non-academic partner is strongly encouraged.
Training Programme
EPFLglobaLeaders fellows benefit from a leadership training programme, in addition to gaining scientific skills throughout their doctoral studies.
Duration
The duration of an EPFLglobaLeaders doctoral fellowship is 48 months (4 years).
Contribution
The EPFLglobaLeaders fellowship consists of a monthly contribution to the salary of the doctoral candidate of EUR 1,935, granted for a period of 48 months. The thesis director must complement the EU contribution to the salary of the doctoral candidate and pay for other associated costs, such as research costs, equipment, travel expenses, and conferences.
Location
Research funded by the EPFLglobaLeaders programme can only be conducted on the EPFL campuses in Lausanne, Geneva, Neuchâtel, Valais, or Fribourg.

The EPFLglobaLeaders programme has received funding from the European Union's Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie grant agreement.
