Program Overview


Program Overview

The Young ChangeMakers Program is a 4-day program designed for Year 11 students who are leaders, innovators, and thinkers of tomorrow. The program aims to connect students with other like-minded individuals, develop leadership and communication skills, and provide a comprehensive introduction to university life.


Program Details

  • The program includes a 4-day (3-night) stay at UQ's St Lucia campus.
  • Participants will engage in interactive faculty workshops, inspiring keynotes, and cultural, sporting, and social activities.
  • A Young ChangeMakers reunion will be held at UQ Open Day (2026).

Program Dates

The program runs from Sunday, 30 November to Wednesday, 3 December 2025. Applications close on 21 September 2025.


Program Highlights

As a Young ChangeMaker, participants will:


  • Take part in activities that ignite their passion for innovative ideas and creating change in their community and the wider world.
  • Experience university life through social and sporting activities.
  • Meet mentors, including student mentors and dedicated staff, who will support them during their stay and throughout the program.
  • Connect with academics through immersive study area workshops.
  • Explore real-world issues, such as climate change and international conflict, in an interdisciplinary environment.
  • Stay on campus in an individual room for 3 nights at Cromwell College, one of UQ's residential colleges.
  • Be inspired by visionary keynote presenters and connect with other Young ChangeMakers.

Cost and Financial Hardship

  • The program cost is $520, which includes all activities, meals, and accommodation.
  • Transport to and from UQ is not included in the cost.
  • Participants may be eligible for a program fee waiver if they can provide supporting documentation about their financial hardship during the application process.

Becoming a Mentor

Current UQ students can become mentors for Young ChangeMakers, providing support and guidance throughout the program.
