Majors

The program offers three majors:


  • Agronomy: Gain an in-depth understanding of biology, chemistry, ecology, agronomic practices, and earth sciences to improve food production, create healthier food options, and explore the use of plants as a source of energy.
  • Animal Science: Develop strategies to improve the wellbeing of animals and make farms more efficient by studying nutrition and reproduction of grazing and intensively housed animals, animal health, animal behavior, microbiology, anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, and pasture science.
  • Horticulture: Learn how to grow different types of plants like fruits, vegetables, and flowers using field and protected cropping practices, and understand how plants can be used to improve the environment.

Entry Requirements

  • Prerequisites: Queensland Year 12 (or equivalent) with General English subject (Units 3 & 4, C) and General Mathematics or Mathematical Methods (Units 3 & 4, C). Agricultural Science and Biology are recommended subjects.
