The Master of Educational Studies at the University of Queensland (UQ) is designed to strengthen leadership expertise and provide a professional advantage in chosen areas of education. Fields of Study
The Master of Educational Studies offers seven fields of study:
- Behaviour Support: Gain knowledge and skills to identify, describe, and manage students' challenging behaviours in schools.
- Curriculum: Develop in-depth knowledge of curriculum, pedagogy, and assessment issues responsive to the Australian Curriculum.
- Guidance, Counselling and Careers: Develop competencies as a professional guidance counsellor and/or career practitioner.
- Inclusive Education: Develop skills, knowledge, and values required to teach students with diverse abilities and needs.
- Leadership: Develop transformative leadership competencies to improve workplaces and make an impact through professional practice informed by research.
- Psychology Education: Prepare current teachers to teach Psychology in the senior phase of schooling.
- Science of Learning: Gain a comprehensive understanding of the neurological, psychological, physical, cognitive, social, and emotional processes involved in learning.
Entry Requirements
To be eligible for the Master of Educational Studies, students must meet specific requirements based on the duration of the program they wish to complete:
- 2-year degree: A bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in any discipline, or 3 years of study towards an approved qualification at an overseas partner institution.
- 1.5-year degree: A bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in education, a graduate certificate or diploma in education, or a bachelor's degree in any discipline plus 2 years of relevant work experience.
- 1-year degree: A bachelor honours degree (or equivalent) in education, or a bachelor's degree in education plus 2 years of relevant work experience.
Fees and Scholarships
The indicative annual fee for the Master of Educational Studies is approximately $5,190 for domestic students and $45,792 for international students. Additional costs may include a Blue Card or Exemption Card for students undertaking the Guidance and Counselling Field of Study. Scholarships are available, including the CONACYT Mexican Scholarship Program, UQ Refugee and Humanitarian Scholarship, and Alumni Pride Scholarship.

Applications for the Master of Educational Studies can be submitted online through the UQ website. The program code is 5596. Students can apply for any duration as long as they meet the entry requirements. The closing date for semester 1 is November 30 of the previous year, and for semester 2, it is May 31 of the year of commencement.
