Overview

The Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (Honours) is a four-year full-time program that aims to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to become a competent occupational therapist. The program is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the theory and practice of occupational therapy, as well as the opportunity to develop their clinical skills through supervised clinical practice.

Program Structure

The program consists of a combination of lectures, tutorials, work placements, online study, and fieldwork. Students will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience through over 1000 hours of supervised clinical practice in hospitals, educational facilities, other healthcare organisations, private practice, and UQ's occupational therapy clinics.

Career Possibilities

Graduates of the program will be eligible to apply for registration as an occupational therapist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Career possibilities include:

• Occupational therapist
• Injury prevention and rehabilitation therapist
• Sports therapist
• Schools and/or special needs therapist
• Residential care therapist

Entry Requirements

To be eligible for admission to the program, applicants must meet the following requirements:

• Queensland Year 12 (or equivalent) General English subject (Units 3 & 4, C)
• One of Biology, Chemistry, or Physics (Units 3 & 4, C)
• Minimum entry score: ATAR / Rank: 95.45, IB: 39.5

Fees and Scholarships

The indicative annual fee for the program is $10,420 (2026). International students may be eligible for financial aid, and there are also scholarships available.

Accreditation

The Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (Honours) is accredited by the Occupational Therapy Council of Australia Ltd (OTC) and approved by the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia (OTBA).

Inherent Requirements

To complete the program, students must meet the inherent requirements, which include demonstrating essential skills and attributes.

Student Visas

International students who are accepted into full-time study in the Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (Honours) are eligible to apply for an Australian student visa (subclass 500).
