Overview

The Bachelor of Biomedical Science (Honours) program provides students with the opportunity to pursue an independent research project in the biomedical sciences in an area of interest under the supervision of an academic staff member. This program extends knowledge in Biomedical Science and opens doors to further study options, preparing students for a career at the forefront of modern healthcare.

Program Details

• The program follows on from the Bachelor of Biomedical Science.
• Through additional study and research, students further develop their knowledge and practical experience in preferred topics, including molecular biology, pharmacology, neuroscience, immunology and infectious diseases, physiology, human genetics, and developmental biology.
• The program is available for domestic and international students.

Entry Requirements

Prerequisites

• Bachelor of Biomedical Science (or equivalent), with:
  • a grade point average (GPA) of 4.0 on a 7-point scale, and
  • a GPA of at least 4.5 at the first attempt for 8 units of courses at level 3 or higher relevant to the honours project (with a maximum of 2 units for a research project), and
  • have secured an honours project and supervisor, and
  • satisfied any additional requirements set by the head of school.

English Language Requirements

• IELTS overall 6.5; reading 6; writing 6; speaking 6; listening 6.
• TOEFL iBT (including Paper Edition) - Overall 87, listening 19, reading 19, writing 21 and speaking 19.
• PTE Academic - Overall Score of 64 and 60 in all sub bands.
• BE - A minimum overall grade of 4 plus a minimum grade of C in all macro skills.
• CES - Overall 176 and 169 in all sub bands.

Student Visas

International students who are accepted into full-time study in the Bachelor of Biomedical Science (Honours) are eligible to apply for an Australian student visa (subclass 500).

Indicative Annual Fee

• Domestic: $9,540 (2026)
• International: AUD $58,056 (2026)

• HECS-HELP is an Australian Government loan scheme to assist eligible students with the cost of their student contribution amounts.
