Entry Requirements
Prerequisites
- A bachelor's degree (or equivalent) in information technology or computer science.
- If the qualification is other than the Bachelor of Information Technology from UQ, students must have successfully completed specific discipline content in their tertiary studies, including:
- Algorithms and data structures
- Programming, or programming in C or C++ or Java (and/or software engineering or object-oriented programming (OOP))
- Discrete mathematics
- Web/mobile programming or web design
- Information systems or database systems
- Human-computer interaction
- A grade point average (GPA) of 5.0 on a 7-point scale in the previous qualification.
- A bachelor's degree awarded more than 5 years prior to admission will not be considered.
Minimum Entry Score
The minimum entry score is subject to change and should be used as a guide. The score must be at least equivalent to the required Australian Year 12 ATAR score.
English Language Requirements
- IELTS overall 6.5; reading 6; writing 6; speaking 6; listening 6.
- TOEFL iBT (including Paper Edition) - Overall 87, listening 19, reading 19, writing 21, and speaking 19.
- PTE Academic - Overall Score of 64 and 60 in all sub-bands.
- BE - A minimum overall grade of 4 plus a minimum grade of C in all macro skills.
- CES - Overall 176 and 169 in all sub-bands.
- OET is not accepted.
Fees and Scholarships
Indicative Annual Fee
Approximate yearly cost of tuition (16 units). Fees will vary according to selected courses and study load. Fees are reviewed each year and may increase.
- Domestic: $9,540 (2026)
- International: AUD $58,056 (2026)
Government Assistance
- HECS-HELP is an Australian Government loan scheme to assist eligible students with the cost of their student contribution amounts.
- Centrelink support: The Australian Government offers a number of income-support payments to eligible Australian university students.
Scholarships
Students may be eligible for more than 100 scholarships.
