Program Overview


Overview of the G2 Risk Management for Supervisors Program

The G2 Risk Management for Supervisors program is designed to advance knowledge and experience in the application, review, and supervision of frontline risk assessment and risk control activities. This course is part of the Global Minerals Industry Risk Management program (G-MIRM) suite of courses.


Program Details

  • Delivered by: Sustainable Minerals Institute
  • Duration: 21 hours (2-day in-person workshop and 5 hours for assessment completion)
  • Time commitment: 2-day in-person workshop (8 hours per day) and 5 hours to complete and submit assessment requirements
  • Certification: Students who successfully complete the course will receive a Certificate of Completion to verify their skills and achievements

Entry Requirements

  • There are no compulsory prerequisites for this course

Course Curriculum

Day 1

  • Risk management concepts and words
  • Overview of legislation and risk
  • Activities to understand organisation risk management including Bowtie analysis, and control and critical control management planning applied to a case study (Layers 1 and 2)

Day 2

  • Task-based risk assessment activities including scope, hazard identification and control identification and implementation (Layer 3)
  • Effective identification of risk treatments
  • Personal/Frontline risk assessment (layer 4)
  • The importance of supervision in effective risk management
  • Review and verification
  • Case study – link to layers 1-4 risk management

Assessment

  • Students will need to submit 3 assessment pieces within 6 months of completing this course and achieve competency in each to be eligible to apply for RIIRIS402E and RIIRIS301E units of competency from UQ Skills (RTO #1511)
  • Simply attending this course will not satisfy the units of competency
